It was all I could think about. I couldn’t stay focused on anything else.
AM I PREGNANT?
Should I go to the store and buy a pregnancy test? Maybe I should buy a handful of them? Costco sells pregnancy tests in bulk, right? Or the dollar store. I could buy a hundred tests at the dollar store. But maybe they won’t be as accurate.
My breasts are so tender. Wait, aren’t they tender right before my period comes? I think I’m peeing more than normal but I did drink a lot of coffee today. Wow, I am so tired. I must be pregnant. No, I can’t be pregnant. But what if I am? Maybe I am.
The waiting game.
How long should you wait to pee on a stick?
Ideally, you should hold off until you have missed your period. If your cycle is the average 28 days long, that means you should wait until 29 days from the first day of your last period.
Some pregnancy tests, like our favorite First Response Early Response (FRER),are able to detect lower amounts of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin), the pregnancy hormone. FRER claims to be over 99% accurate up to 5 days before your next period is due. So, if you just can’t wait to test, FRER is the test for you.
I know it isn’t easy, but it’s always best to wait until you have missed a period. Try to stay busy doing things you enjoy. Go for more walks, pick up a copy of every celebrity gossip magazine on the racks, eat French macarons–we recommend Yann Haute Patisserie. Whatever you have to do to avoid Googling “early pregnancy symptoms” for the 649th time.
